Uber Comfort Electric
Influencer MarketingSix creators filmed city rediscovery rides in Tesla EVs for TikTok, positioning Uber's premium electric ride option as a choice worth making over UberX.
About the campaign
Uber needed to drive awareness and adoption of Comfort Electric, its premium electric rideshare tier, across the United States and Canada among riders who default to options like UberX and may assume a sustainable ride means a compromise. The cultural tension Open Influence worked against was the belief that the sustainable choice requires giving something up, when these riders wanted luxury, style and eco-consciousness at once. Comfort Electric had to earn consideration against ingrained rideshare habits and change what a sustainable option feels like.
Open Influence had six hand-selected creators rediscover the beauty of their own city from inside an Uber Comfort Electric Tesla, capturing each city from the point of view of the ride's elevated moonroof and windows. Paired with five videographers, the creators shot high-quality video during real rides in permitted, recognisable locations across Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago, distributed through TikTok and banked as premium video assets for Uber's own use.
The product-experience device, the city seen from the moonroof, turned a functional rideshare tier into visually distinct content, while filming during real rides tied it to the actual product rather than a studio concept. The work ran on TikTok. Open Influence reports 114% over-delivery on followers targeted and 1338% over-delivery on total views, with engagements and shares also highlighted, but the absolute totals were lost in the archived page and the figures are expressed only as percentages against undisclosed targets, so they cannot be independently checked; the campaign was entered in the 16th Annual Shorty Awards with no result stated.

Why Open Influence's strategy worked
- 1
A product-experience device, the city seen from the ride's moonroof and windows, turned a functional rideshare tier into visually distinct creator content.
- 2
Filming during real rides in permitted, recognisable city locations tied the content to the actual product experience rather than a studio concept.
- 3
Pairing each creator with a dedicated videographer produced brand-usable premium assets, giving Uber a content bank beyond the creators' own posts.
- 4
Selecting creators for aesthetic and storytelling fit matched the premium positioning the brand wanted for a sustainability product.
