Bubble Decker Bus
Brand Ambassador ProgramsA branded pink double-decker bus toured 16 UK universities for Soap & Glory, with student ambassadors driving 1.1M pre-tour reach and 485% of the competition entry target.
About the campaign
UK university students knew Soap & Glory as a high-street product on the shelf, not as a brand that shared their appetite for fun and self-expression, and they had little reason to engage with it beyond seeing it in store. Beauty brands compete hard for student attention on shelf and on social, and sampling alone rarely creates engagement worth sharing, so the brand wanted genuine awareness and connection on campus.
Seed Marketing built the Bubble Decker Bus, a fully branded pink double-decker touring 16 UK universities as a rolling beauty experience. The tour launched in Glasgow in October 2016 with dance classes, glitter tattoos, makeovers and braids from the Glory Girls, pink popcorn giveaways and a VIP top deck reserved for social competition winners. Crucially, 25 student Glambassadors pre-promoted each stop across their own campuses before the bus arrived, so each date opened to an audience already primed. The work was delivered with Studio of Art & Commerce on the brand side and Elevate on staffing.
The distinctive physical asset was a photo opportunity in itself and earned trade coverage without media spend, while reserving the top deck for competition winners made posting the price of the best experience. Seed Marketing reports 1.1M pre-tour reach from ambassador promotion, 24K student attendees across the 16 stops, and competition entries at 485% of an undisclosed target. The Drum verified the campaign's launch and mechanics but published no results, and no sales or brand-tracking data is available, so outcomes should be read as agency reported.

UK university students had little reason to engage with Soap & Glory beyond seeing it on shelf, and the brand wanted genuine awareness and engagement on campus.
Soap & Glory is built on fun, creativity and self-expression, and so are students; peers promoting on their own campuses would prime each stop before the brand arrived.

Why Seed Marketing's strategy worked
- 1
A distinctive physical asset, a bright pink double-decker with a slide and stage, was a photo opportunity in itself and earned trade coverage without media spend.
- 2
Peer seeding preceded presence: 25 student Glambassadors promoting each stop on their own campuses meant the bus arrived with an audience already primed.
- 3
Sharing was incentivised with access rather than media, since the VIP top deck gave students a concrete reason to post.
- 4
Letting students use the products through makeovers, braids and tattoos delivered the brand's stated aim of experience over shelf presence.
- 5
Multi-agency delivery (Seed on the build, Studio of Art & Commerce on the brand side, Elevate on staffing) kept each layer specialist.
