Case in 60 seconds

The Odyssey Ark was being unveiled to the world, and Samsung US needed a first look that introduced an unfamiliar screen format at the same moment the product itself became public.

The campaign appears to turn on the reading that a monitor of this shape is understood through play rather than through specification, because creators from different gaming niches put different demands on the same screen.

The organizing thesis was a private first look in which top creators met next-generation gaming hardware in person, so the product was introduced through hands-on use rather than through a launch announcement alone.

Three creators visited each of the private Samsung experience zones in London, at KX, and New York, at 837, among them SypherPK, Loughh, Stoopzz, Alyska, Calfreezy and Konstantin. Each got hands-on with the Odyssey Ark and created content for their own channels as well as for Samsung's owned and operated channels.

NewGen reports 4.1M Total Impressions, 180K Total Engagements and 18K Total Link Clicks for the activation, figures published without a measurement period, a platform split or a breakdown by creator.

Strategy Breakdown

The primary strategy-learning section — interpretation, not a press-release summary.

Gaming audiences reached through creators working across different gaming niches rather than through a single game community.
A new monitor format has to be shown working before it can be argued for, and the page frames the task as a first look, which suggests the difficulty sat in demonstration rather than in awareness.
Samsung supplied the access, providing private experience zones at its own London and New York spaces so the product could be handled before general availability rather than described at a distance.
Based on the available evidence, the work assumes gaming audiences judge hardware through the creators they already follow, so the same monitor was placed in six different hands rather than presented once.

Why NewGen's strategy worked

  1. 1

Casting across gaming niches rather than within one game community lets a single product carry several demonstrations, because each creator tests a different feature and the audiences do not overlap entirely.

  2. 2

Running the same hands-on format in two cities gives a launch simultaneous presence in separate creator markets, which suits a product unveiling where the news value decays quickly after the reveal.

  3. 3

Content commissioned for creator channels and for brand owned channels at once doubles the return on a single studio visit, because the same session supplies both audiences without a second production.
